Certificate III in Investigative Services will prepare you as a Private Investigator for real life experiences and will provide a healthy income for those that gain employment within the Security Industry.


This course is nationally accredited qualification. The purpose of this course is to ensure that all persons involved in the field of investigations are suitably trained and qualified to perform their task in a professional manner.

The licensing regulations requires that all persons applying for a private investigator license complete the Certificate III in Investigative Services with an accredited Registered Training Organisation. There are two primary methods of investigations that are covered in the Certificate III.


  1. Surveillance/Activity Review – involves close observation, be it overt or covert, of a person or group who are under suspicion.

  2. Circumstance/Factual Investigation – involves making enquiries in to the facts of an incident. For example; interviewing people who are of interest to the courts or insurance companies.

Additional Requirements

On completion of the qualification, the learner will be required to complete, submit and be successful in obtaining a private security individual licence to work in the security industry.
