(VIC) Armed Guard Skill Set

Security can provide you with a stable career and a healthy income. The security industry is 24 hours / 7 days a week, and can allow you to travel the world protecting the public. As an Armed Guard Security Officer you may perform duties such as: - Guard high profile buildings or businesses whilst carrying a firearm - Conduct Mobile Patrols facilitating a weapon - Compound Security Protection

To enrol in this course students must hold a current security license in Victoria.

This course teaches you the safe use of a handgun. We equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to control security risk situations using a firearm, including the ability to identify security threats and assess the need and opportunity to present a firearm and formulate the appropriate response options for changing risk circumstances.

As part of this course, we go through tactical positioning techniques, discharging the firearm with consistent accuracy, and the unloading, inspecting and storing the firearm after use.

This Skill Set alone does not provide you with a licensing outcome. You will need to complete additional training in accredited units from the Certificate III in Security Operations to apply to have Armed Guard added to your security license in Victoria.

On completion of the qualification, the learner will be required to complete, submit and be successful in obtaining a general category Victorian handgun license and also apply to have Armed Guard added as an activity to their security license before they can work as an Armed Guard Officer in Victoria.
