Description

This course provides training for those who want to specialise in providing recovery orientated mental health services to people experiencing mental illness and psychiatric disability.

You will learn how to implement community based programs and activities with a focus on mental health. This course will help you gain understanding and build practical skills to work in the mental health sector.

Work Placement

As part of the mental health qualification you will need to complete a work placement with 80 hours of work and experience. This will include:

- supporting people during challenges, distress or crisis

- developing, implementing and reviewing a plan for recovery using recovery orientated approaches

- developing and maintaining effective working relationships with care support network

- implementing strategies to de-escalate incidents of risk

- and much more!

Prerequisites

There are no formal entry requirements for persons seeking enrolment into this qualification. A Working with Children Check and Police Check may be required for work in the community service industry as you will be working with vulnerable people.

Pre-enrolment Requirement

A pretraining and Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) test is required prior to enrolment in this course.
