Please note: On 21 January 2019, the training course for Security Officers was updated. The new course CPP31318 Certificate III in Security Operations supersedes and is not equivalent to the previous course CPP30411 Certificate III in Security Operations.
On 18 December 2019, Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) Commissioners agreed to extend the transition period of the CPP30411 Certificate III in Security Operations and CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations for learner cohorts in NSW, ACT, Tasmania and Victoria until 1 July 2020.
LRD (Licensing and Regulation Division of the Victoria Police) will continue to accept the CPP30411 when applying for a Private Security Individual Licence with the activity of Bodyguard until advised otherwise. When the new courses become available we will immediately update the website.

Security officers at this level provide leadership in a team environment, operate under limited supervision, and use discretion and judgement in known and unpredictable work contexts. They take responsibility for their own outputs in work and learning, and limited responsibility for the output of others in the work team.
This course caters to those who have already completed other entry level studies relevant to the security industry, as well for entry level into specialised streams the security industry which comprises of people and companies mainly engaged in providing security, protection and private enquiry services - other than units of police forces and government security agencies.
CPP30411 Certificate III in Security Operations is from the Property Services Training Package. It aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to provide intermediate security services including basic risk management and the formulation of security response options.

Current workers in the Security industry wishing to add to their career opportunities
Students who wish to continue study after the CPP20212 to increase their employment opportunities
Students who wish to add to their entry level qualification and complete either partially (through this course) or fully (through the additional optional units) the required units for the security licence categories of;
- Armed Guard
- Cash in Transit
- Combined Armed Guard & Cash in Transit
- Guard with Dog
Coursework and Assessment
This qualification forms the basis for meeting specialist occupational licensing requirements for the private security industry. The content includes customer service, workplace safety, leadership and teamwork skills, presenting evidence in court and maintaining the security of premises.
Completion of additional elective units of competency upon completion of the units of competency specified within this Training and Assessment Strategy will allow for students to apply for licensing in a range of specialist occupations.
